What Is a Brand Ambassador?

From increasing brand awareness to elevating trust in their products or services, businesses have come to recognise the massive impact Brand Ambassadors have on forging connections between brands and consumers.

With more and more businesses utilising Brand Ambassadors as part of their wider marketing strategy, let’s explore what this exciting role involves and discover whether it could be the right choice for you!

What is a Brand Ambassador?

A Brand Ambassador is hired to represent and promote a brand’s products, services and image. They embody the company’s identity through their appearance, values, and persona, while showcasing it in the best light.

By interacting and connecting with customers, Brand Ambassadors can enhance brand awareness, increase sales and boost customer loyalty.

Whilst a Brand Ambassador can be an existing company employee, many are outsourced from events staffing specialists such as Coalition to represent different brands on a temporary basis.

What does a Brand Ambassador do?

As a Brand Ambassador, you could do anything from demoing the latest tech at a trade show to enhancing the guest experience at a live immersive event.

Brand Ambassadors hired for events may attend festivals, conventions, pop-up shops, interactive exhibitions and almost any other live event you can think of!

A Brand Ambassador’s key responsibilities vary depending on the brand’s goals and the type of event you’re attending. That being said, here are some of the tasks you could expect as a Brand Ambassador:

  • Product promotion and demonstrations
  • Communicating information and answering questions about the brand, product or service
  • Encouraging attendee interaction and engagement
  • Gathering feedback and recording data

To get an even better idea of what to expect in a Brand Ambassador role, here’s an inside look at what some of Coalition’s fantastic Brand Ambassadors get up to.

Representing Puma at the Leicester Podium 5k

Kitted out in the latest Puma gear, our Brand Ambassadors, Ella and Sam, attended the Leicester Podium 5k to showcase Puma’s FAST-R NITRO™ Elite footwear.

Throughout the day, they introduced the public to Puma’s innovative footwear and offered a chance to win a pair by competing in the Batak Pro speed challenge.

By engaging attendees, offering the chance to win prizes through an interactive challenge, and showcasing the product, our Brand Ambassadors created awareness of Puma’s new footwear, connected with potential consumers, and increased ongoing engagement with the brand.

Who would suit a Brand Ambassador role?

There is a wide scope of tasks you could be doing as a Brand Ambassador, but each role requires these key skills to ensure your success:

Excellent communicator

Due to the customer-facing nature of this role, you’ll need to be a confident communicator and able to connect with a wide range of people.

Whether you’re showcasing a new product or encouraging people to engage with an interactive exhibit, you need to be comfortable starting conversations and confidently answering questions about the brand.

Adaptable

You’ll face different tasks in each role and must adapt to each new situation accordingly.

Personable

Working at in-person events means you’ll need to be approachable and able to connect with a wide range of people.

Reliable

Excellent time management and organisational skills are essential to ensuring the event runs smoothly.

Enthusiastic

As the face of a brand, you must be genuinely interested in and passionate about the people you represent. Your enthusiasm will boost engagement and get attendees excited about the brand’s offerings, while a lack of enthusiasm will reflect poorly on the brand.

Team Player

Businesses often have multiple Brand Ambassadors working at an event at any given time, so it’s crucial that you work well in a group environment and mesh with your team members.
