Will the future of event staffing be powered by artificial intelligence (AI)?
AI is the talk of the moment, with many believing it will revolutionise how we do everything from finding cures for diseases to creating art. As many employers now seek to streamline their staffing and recruitment processes with AI, every industry could be impacted by its implementation.
In this blog, we take a balanced look at how AI could affect event staffing and what this could mean for both employers and job seekers in the future.
How could AI shape event staffing?
AI will automate recruitment
67% of hiring decision-makers agree that AI’s main advantage is saving time.
From analysing CVs to identifying candidates’ relevant skills and automating outreach to qualified job seekers about job matches, AI will be able to complete recruitment tasks much more quickly, saving businesses time and money.
With much of staff recruitment able to be automated, AI could have a potentially major impact on the hiring processes of event companies and other businesses. In fact, it’s predicted that 39% of staffing tasks will be conducted by AI in the future.
Chatbots will streamline the job application process
AI virtual assistants will be useful tools to help people apply for open roles. While many companies already use virtual assistants, AI will help job seekers through the job application process, whether that’s by showing individuals where to apply on a website or by analysing CVs to identify which roles an applicant should apply for.
AI will help staffing agencies identify top contractors
Staffing agencies can utilise AI to analyse and compare talent to identify who is best suited for a role.
AI can analyse an individual’s past data to assess their likelihood of securing a job, attrition rates, interview performance, job success, and more. This data will show staffing agencies which contractors are most reliable and whom to recommend for jobs.
AI can plan career development
By considering an employee’s strengths, weaknesses and career goals, AI can help build personalised career development plans. Individuals can use this technology to progress in their current professions or pivot into new career paths.
Artificial Intelligence may reduce bias
One flaw of current hiring practices is the impact of human unconscious bias. 68% of recruiters believe AI can eliminate biases from the hiring process.
However, not everyone is as optimistic. In one survey, 35% of recruiters felt that AI might overlook candidates with unique skills or experiences that a human recruiter might consider. Some cases have shown that AI can be biased by the data it gathers from humans.
It’s not just recruiters who are worried. 66% of respondents in the same survey said they would not apply for a job that uses AI in hiring decisions, underscoring concerns about potential biases and a lack of human judgment, which could do more harm than good for job seekers.
With many questions about AI’s impact on businesses, recruiters and job seekers still being raised in public discussions, it will be a matter of time before its true impact on event staffing becomes clear. As with any new technology, hesitations are inevitable, but as AI evolves and companies become more confident using it, the benefits for productivity, efficiency, and profitability will be hard to ignore.
