Are you just starting out in your career as a brand ambassador? Or do you have some experience but want to learn how to showcase it best?
Finding a new job is hard work, no one will argue that, but to give you the best chance of booking more jobs we’ve created a guide on building yourself the best brand ambassador profile you can.
Working as a brand ambassador is a competitive role, but we want to help you put your best foot forward by making your profile stand out and showcase your experience.
1. Research
If you’re reading this guide, then chances are you have already begun this step. If you’re new to the world of brand ambassadors, this is the most important step.
- Research the industry and get together all the professional materials you need.
- Research the different event staffing agencies available to you, some agencies will specialise in certain areas, and this might mean you need additional skills or qualifications. It will also allow you to tailor your profile to suit the agency.
- Know the application process, again this will prepare you for what you need.
2. Check The Basics
An important step in any job search, make sure your basic information is correct and up to date, you don’t want to fall at the first hurdle.
- Check your CV, cover letter, bio, and profile photo to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about yourself and your contact details.
- Also check over these for typos and mistakes, first impressions really do count.
3. Creating Your Profile
In the world of brand ambassadors, your online profile is way more important than your CV. Your online profile is similar to a digital CV in that this is what is sent to clients for approval.
Start strong with a good bio, include any relevant/similar experience that you have in this section. The more detailed your bio, the more you will stand out from the crowd. Let the client get to know you.
Here at Coalition, we use iZero.work for creating and storing profiles. We recommend adding your experience to the ‘about me/ bio’ section and then listing your job titles in the ‘roles’ section. You should also use the ‘about me’ section to name any brand you have worked with.
Lastly, add any training you’ve completed or qualifications you have earned. These look great on your profile and help match you to the most suitable role.
4. Physical Attributes
Physical attributes might be considered for a variety of reasons, including uniform sizing, costume requirements, and speciality campaigns. Having this in your profile means that you will appear in the specific searches for it, opening yourself up to further job bookings.
5. Add photos
Include a nice, clear, approachable profile picture, even better if you’re smiling! This needs to be a headshot and not a full-length photo. Whilst it doesn’t need to be a professional shot, ensure it is a current photo with no filters, no sunglasses, and no alcohol. This photo needs to be a true representation of what you look like right now, no more than 1 year old, accurate current hair colour, displays any new visible tattoos.
Profile photo out of the way, be sure to also add lots of photos to your ‘media’ section showcasing you at work at your best! You can also add photos of yourself taking in part in your hobbies or showing off your talents. A picture is worth a thousand words and clients can get a better feel for your personality and proof of your experiences through them.
6. Keep it up to date
It’s a good idea to revisit your profile regularly throughout the year, especially as you do more jobs. Update your profile about every 3 months, you will have gained plenty more specific skills and experiences in that time frame.
As a brand ambassador, clients are looking for both experience and a positive attitude when it comes to staffing an event. Showcase this as much as you can in your profile to guarantee you come up in an agency search and get noticed. Be thorough and use the tips we have provided above.
