Will the future of event staffing be powered by artificial intelligence (AI)?
AI is the talk of the moment, with many believing it will revolutionise how we do everything from finding cures for diseases to creating art. As many employers now seek to streamline their staffing and recruitment processes with AI, every industry could be impacted by its implementation.
In this blog, we take a balanced look at how AI could affect event staffing and what this could mean for both employers and job seekers in the future.
How could AI shape event staffing?
AI will automate recruitment
67% of hiring decision-makers agree that AI’s main advantage is saving time.
From analysing CVs to identifying candidates’ relevant skills and automating outreach to qualified job seekers about job matches, AI will be able to complete recruitment tasks much more quickly, saving businesses time and money.
With much of staff recruitment able to be automated, AI could have a potentially major impact on the hiring processes of event companies and other businesses. In fact, it’s predicted that 39% of staffing tasks will be conducted by AI in the future.
Chatbots will streamline the job application process
AI virtual assistants will be useful tools to help people apply for open roles. While many companies already use virtual assistants, AI will help job seekers through the job application process, whether that’s by showing individuals where to apply on a website to analysing CVs to identify which roles an applicant should apply for.
AI will help staffing agencies identify top contractors
Staffing agencies can utilise AI to analyse and compare their talent to identify who may be best suited for a job.
AI will be able to look at an individual’s past data to identify their likelihood of getting a job, attrition rates, interview performance, job success, and more. This data will show staffing agencies which contractors are most reliable and who to recommend for jobs.
AI can plan career development
By considering an employee’s strengths, weaknesses and career goals, AI can help build personalised career development plans. Individuals can use this technology to progress in their current professions or pivot into new career paths.
Artificial Intelligence may reduce bias
One flaw of current hiring practices is the impact of human unconscious bias. 68% of recruiters believe AI can eliminate biases from the hiring process.
However, not everyone is as optimistic. 35% of recruiters from one survey felt that AI might overlook candidates with unique skills or experiences that may only be considered by a human recruiter. Some cases have even demonstrated that AI can also be biased due to the data it gathers from humans.
It’s not just recruiters that are worried. 66% of respondents from the same survey stated they would not apply for a job that uses AI for hiring decisions, highlighting further concerns about potential biases and a lack of human consideration, which could cause more harm than good for job seekers.
With many questions about AI’s impact on businesses, recruiters and job seekers still being raised in public discussion, it will be a matter of time to reveal its true impact on event staffing. As with any new technology, hesitations are inevitable, but as AI evolves and companies become more confident using it, the benefits on productivity, efficiency and profit will be hard to ignore.
